Have you been hearing the buzz about Chef Kate, of Not Just Desserts?
She is a former marine, disabled veteran, and proud of it!
Local Big Island girl, Chef Kate has worked in many restaurants since a teenager, and had the pleasure of apprenticing with both Sam Choy and Roy Yamaguchi prior to attending the French Culinary Institute in New York City.
Classically trained Chef Kate of Hilo, apprenticed in Europe and worked in New York City until 9/11 when she returned home to Hawaii.
She has worked as a corporate & private chef aboard international yachts, as well as opening multiple restaurants here in Honolulu and New York, as well as Florida
Her scrumptious food and desserts can be found at various locations in Honolulu!
Recently Chef Kate’s food can be seen on the local TV series Hawaii 5-0 season 8,
and various commercials. Look for it in the next episode!
She was recently featured in the Honolulu Advertiser newspaper,
at Island Brew Coffee Shop where you can taste her various treats.

She was also featured in the book “The Survivor Spirit” to benefit
Kapiolani Women’s and Children’s Medical Center.
Her other interests include football, and where she has catered
Pro Bowl athlete parties with Sam Choy.
After many request Chef Kate has decided to move forward on a cook book that features gluten-free and sugar-free entrees and desserts.
She is constantly trying to achieve to health conscious food that still tastes great,
for all the people that want to eat, regardless of dietary restrictions.
She has been described as unconventional, and is quite proud of it.
